YOUTH AMBASSADORS

Want to help shape the future for rangatahi across Aotearoa?

What do Youth Ambassadors do?

As a Youth Ambassador, you’ll play a key role in guiding and growing Te Ara Tīrama and contributing to youth-led impact in Aotearoa.

  • Join a monthly online hui to share ideas, give feedback, and co-design new initiatives.
  • Help to shape our online platform and the way we support young changemakers.
  • Turn great ideas into real-life impact by taking the lead on youth-led projects and initiatives
  • Act as a voice for rangatahi – making sure our work is inclusive, accessible, and grounded in what matters most to young people.

There’s also the chance to attend 1–2 in-person gatherings a year, where you’ll meet other ambassadors, build skills, and dive deeper into our mahi.

Who we’re looking for?

We’re on the lookout for 8–10 young people aged 12–16 from all over Aotearoa.

You don’t need a perfect CV or experience – just:

  • A passion for making a difference
  • An open mind and willingness to work with others
  • Some ideas for how we can better connect, empower, and uplift rangatahi

Whether you’re already leading change in your community or just starting out – if this kaupapa speaks to you, we’d love to hear from you.

What’s in it for you?

Being part of the Youth Ambassador team means you’ll walk away with:

  • Skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, and project planning
  • Mentoring, training, and personalised support to grow your confidence and capabilities
  • Koha to recognise your time and energy
  • A powerful network of like-minded young people across the motu
  • Real opportunities to create impact and bring your ideas to life
